Dave: As for the 1st preseason game, what did you think?

I came away from it pretty happy that I picked up Jordan Shipley in our dynasty draft.  I thought Tashard Choice looked pretty good too.  Bernard Scott looked alright, but not fantastic.  Dallas does have a pretty good run defense, so I guess he wasn't terrible either.

Didn't see enough of Barber, Felix or Benson.  Frankly, I wanted to see more of Ocho because he's been doing so much reality show crap.  T. O. looked like he's gonna fit right in.  I don't know how much he's got left in the tank, but from the little I saw it looks like more than he showed in Buffalo.

The other guy I was impressed with -- Pacman.  Not on the field a lot but NICE play on Austin in that first series.

John: I thought Scott showed some nice burst and I did like what little I saw from Benson. If he caught the ball, I'd be all over him.

I thought Palmer looked a lot more comfortable than he did in his last game vs the Jets in the playoffs.

I thought it was encouraging that TO was targeted often. I think the targets were 5 to 1 for TO and Ocho with Ocho's one target being knocked down at the line. While the urge to get excited is there, I think it's more due to Palmer wanting to get a game feel with Owens. But I agree, Owens should be better this year. I would not be surprised if he did better than most are expecting. He's a nice value right now in the 6th and 7th rounds as a WR3/WR4 (12 team drafts).

Man is Dallas' backfield is a headache. I have some stock in all 3, so I guess that's a good thing, but if there's not a clear guy, then it will be a coinflip each week.

Agree with you about Pacman. The Boys were targeting him, but he held his own. Pacman has been so quiet this offseason, I actually forgot he was on their team. Their D is underrated as I'm seeing them go undrafted in most leagues I'm in. That defense was one of only 7 teams that gave up less that 300 points last year and it looks like they could be even better this year with Jones and Maualuga a year older.

Great call on Shipley. He looked like the real deal. Although it was vs 2nd teamers, he looked liked he was acclimating to the NFL speed nicely. I know Wes Welker draws a lot of comparisons and a handful guys are pegged as the "Wes Welker in that offense", but Shipley looked quite Welker-esque in that game. With the two BFFs on the outside, Shipley could carve out a nice niche for himself out of the slot. Gresham should be a nice addition as well, but there's a reason the Bengals don't go to the TE that often.

Matt Jones made some nice plays, but he looked slow and nothing like the sprinter speed he's always labeled as having. The Bengals really do have nice WR depth. Dezmon Briscoe always made some noise. He's a guy I like but may be a year or 2 away from getting an opportunity depending on how long the Terrell saga goes on in the Nati. All our dynasty players should put him on their radar.

Last, tough break for John Phillips. He looked great as the Witten/Bennett understudy. Unfortunate that he went down. Kid looked like he had some game. My main takeaway from the Phillips production was it should be a good year for Witten owners.
